What this app does

Seption is a workforce management tool for inspector contractors. It lets contractors log days worked, expenses, and receipts, and lets administrators review, approve, and pay them.

What data we collect

  • Account data: name, email address, password (hashed), role, and project assignments.
  • Time and expense data you submit: dates worked, hours, billing rates, per diem, vehicle and mileage entries, receipt photos, and rejection notes.
  • Photos: only receipt photos that you explicitly select via the image picker. The app does not access your photo library beyond the photos you choose to attach.
  • Camera: used only when you tap "take photo" to capture a receipt directly.
  • Microphone: not used. Microphone permission is explicitly disabled in the app's permission manifest.
  • Location: the mobile app does not collect GPS or device location data. Project locations stored in our system are free-text addresses entered manually.
  • Device data: standard crash and error diagnostics including device model, OS version, and error stack traces. Email addresses and usernames are stripped before this data is sent to our error-tracking provider.
  • Push notification tokens: if you opt into push notifications, we store an Expo push token tied to your account.

How we use this data

  • To deliver the service (let you log time, see your assignments, and get paid).
  • To send transactional emails such as weekly summaries, reminders, and sign-in links.
  • To send push notifications about approvals or feedback on your submissions.
  • To generate weekly summary reports for administrators.
  • To diagnose crashes and fix bugs.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, track you across other apps or websites, or use it for marketing.

Third parties (sub-processors)

  • Supabase — database, authentication, storage, and serverless function infrastructure.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery.
  • Anthropic — generates the natural-language text in weekly summary emails. We send aggregated inspector names, project names, and dollar amounts. We do not send receipt images, raw rejection notes, email addresses, or contact information.
  • Sentry — receives application error and crash diagnostics. Email addresses and usernames are stripped before send.
  • Mapbox — used by the administrator web app for map view of project locations and to convert address text into coordinates. Not used by the mobile app.
  • Expo / EAS — push notification delivery and mobile build infrastructure.
  • Vercel — hosts the administrator web application.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play — distribute the mobile app.

Where data is stored

Our primary database (Supabase) is hosted in AWS US-East-2 (Ohio). Most sub-processors operate in the United States.

How long we keep data

Account, time, expense, and photo data are retained for as long as your account is active and for up to seven (7) years after deactivation, in line with U.S. tax and labor recordkeeping requirements (1099s and contractor pay records). Crash diagnostics are retained for 90 days under our error-tracking provider's default retention policy.

Your rights

You may request a copy of the data we hold about you, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account (subject to the recordkeeping requirements above). Contact privacy@seption.com to make a request.

Children's data

This app is for adults engaged in inspection work. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
